Great start to the year!

WOW! Absolute Custom Designs Inc. has started the year with a bang!

Finding a designer to work with can be a difficult process. You must find a designer who you are comfortable with, who listens to what you want and explains why they choose the things that they do. Also, a designer must ask you about your budget (everybody has one) and be respectful of it. A good designer is like a good pair of shoes...they fit comfortably, look great, and you wouldn't think of leaving the house without them.

Our process is quite unique. When a customer calls us we ask several questions that help us determine the needs and wants of our potential client. Whether it is for a color consultation or drapery or even spacial planning we like to go to the appointment ready to work. I don't expect the client to know exactly what they want but I do want the client to have an open mind.

Some drapery designers will open a catalogue and have the customer select what they like. In my opinion great custom design does not come out of a catalogue, it sprouts from the imagination and and keeps the home and personality of the client in mind. I personally like to take my measures and everything I learned from my client and come back to the office to select fabric, hand draw a design, budget, etc. I then will present the client with my vision for their space.

Great support people are also important in this business. Nobody knows everything....and I certainly will be the first to admit it. I have a great contact at the lighting store, so when I have a client who needs help in that area she is who I go to. When I need granite I go to the guy who specializes in granite. In turn these people will give me a call over color, furniture, window coverings, etc. I also do not sew nor do I install drapery. I have a remarkable seamstress who is a ticketted costume designer by trade. All my drapery is installed by a gentleman who is a certified installer...amazing guy...amazing installer!

So if you are interested in a consultaion please give me a call 403.505.3217. I would be more than happy to give you a hand.

First Blog...EVER!

Wow! This is the very first time that I have ever blogged anything.

Welcome to our site. If you don't already know we are a small design business in Sylvan Lake, Alberta. We hung our shingle up in August of 2011 with the hopes to serve all of Central Alberta. The business is owned by myself, Angie, and my fiance, Sean. We are design consultants that have successfully been helping home (and business) owners create beautiful interiors and exteriors for a combined 28 years. We specialize in color, furniture, wallcoverings, flooring and window coverings. From concept to completion we want your design experience to be memorable.

Sean contracts to a home builder in Lacombe (Broder Homes and Developments) and I concentrate on interior design for home owners and commercial projects.

I personally love to focus my attention on window coverings. From the selection of fabrics to the construction of the design, to the installation, I love it all.

Unlike many designers I like to remain hands on so I employ Drape Works of Red Deer, AB, to fabricate my designs. This way I am able to pop in and inspect the product during the different stages of manufacturing. Such care and personal attention is given to each product that comes out of our workroom. Details make the difference. All draperies are custom made to suit the individual clients home. Production time runs approximately 4-8 weeks. You can certainly find cheaper drapes, however, if you want a high quality custom product to be proud of, you will not find a better value.

Give us a call at 403.505.3217 or email us at agcline@telus.net
